Over 4.8 million active electricity customers in Nigeria remained unmetered as of June 2026, despite a sharp increase in metering during the month. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission reported that the national metering rate rose to 61.51 per cent in June, up from 60.22 per cent in May, with 203,521 new installations across the 11 Distribution Companies. This improvement nearly doubled monthly metering activity compared to May, but millions still face estimated billing.
