CANAL+ and LALIGA have signed an anti-piracy agreement covering nearly 50 countries across Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti. The partnership will involve sharing intelligence, coordinating enforcement strategies and stepping up action against illegal distribution networks operating across multiple territories. The collaboration is described as one of the most significant between a global broadcaster and a major sports competition in the fight against piracy. Piracy threatens the sustainability of sport by undermining broadcast rights and investment that supports clubs, youth development, audiovisual production and the wider football ecosystem, while illegal streaming services can expose fans to risks including data theft, malware and fraud.
