NDC fumes as thugs attack, disrupt meeting in Enugu

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the violent disruption of its grassroots meeting in Obuoffia Ward, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. In a statement by the party's National Publicity Secretary, OSA Director, Esq., the opposition party described the ambush as an unprovoked assault carried out by 'state-sponsored thugs' aimed at stifling constitutional rights to peaceful assembly. The party warned that while it remains committed to democratic norms ahead of the 2027 general elections, its members retain the right to self-defence if security forces fail to intervene. According to the NDC leadership, this attack follows two previous violent disruptions targeting consultations held by the party's senatorial candidate, Uche Onyeogocha, in Imo State.
