The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) has urged the Federal Government to immediately commence the implementation of the 2026 Capital Budget, warning that continued delays violate the Constitution, the Fiscal Responsibility Act, and the Appropriation Act. In an open letter addressed to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, CSJ's Lead Director, Eze Onyekpere, called for a public explanation of the persistent delays in releasing funds for capital projects. The letter was also sent to the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas. CSJ cited Section 48(1) of the Fiscal Responsibility Act, which requires transparency and timely disclosure in the management of public funds.
