The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has finalized plans to automate vessel registration in Nigeria, with the initiative expected to launch in November. A board member, Ms. Iroghama Ogbeifun, announced this during the Lagos International Maritime Week, stating that the electronic registration project aims to streamline processes and improve ease of doing business in the maritime sector. The automation is anticipated to reduce transaction delays, attract investment, and enhance shipping efficiency. Meanwhile, the first applicant for the Cabotage Vessel Financing Fund (CVFF) is awaiting ministerial approval for disbursement.
