2027: ‘No parallel structures’, APC Govs warn, as Wike’s Rainbow Coalition rattles party

State governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have warned against the creation of parallel political structures that could undermine President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. The warning, issued on Monday night during a closed-door meeting at the Imo State Governor's Lodge in Abuja, is seen as a direct response to the Rainbow Coalition led by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike. Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, made the declaration on behalf of the governors. The development comes amid mounting friction within the APC over the coalition, with some powerful blocs pushing back over fears it could split votes and damage Tinubu's 2027 chances.
