A US federal judge postponed the implementation of a Trump administration policy that would impose stricter limits on foreign students and journalists. The preliminary injunction from District Judge Dennis Saylor came one day before the new visa rules from the Department of Homeland Security were to take effect. Under the proposed rules, student visa holders would be admitted for up to four years and could apply for extensions, while foreign journalists would be limited to stays of 240 days, with Chinese journalists getting 90 days. A coalition of unions representing universities, teachers, and journalists challenged the policy.
