Suspected kidnappers have abandoned a teenage captive near a police checkpoint in Onitsha, Anambra State. The boy, identified as Favour Ayogu, was dropped from a black Toyota Highlander SUV near a security checkpoint at Ekene Junction, along Oguta Road. The suspects fled as a joint patrol team moved to intercept them, leaving the teenager behind. Ayogu was rescued by security operatives. The Anambra State Police Command said the teenager had allegedly been abducted in Igboeze South Local Government Area of neighbouring Enugu State before being taken towards Onitsha. Command spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga said the operation was part of ongoing efforts.
