The Gombe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of politicising the diphtheria outbreak in the state. In a statement by State Publicity Secretary Murtala Usman Wuro Tale, the APC described the PDP's comments as dangerous ignorance and insensitivity. The ruling party said the outbreak requires coordinated medical and public health interventions, not political grandstanding. The APC also claimed the PDP's position shows a lack of understanding of disease surveillance and outbreak response procedures.
