The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is currently experiencing extremely heavy traffic, with motorists and commuters stranded due to ongoing repair works at Kara Bridge. The heavy traffic, which has spread from Kara Bridge to Secretarial Bus Stop, was caused by a heavy articulated vehicle that collided with a barricade put in place by the construction firm. The trailer hit the barricade and blocked the lanes, causing a serious traffic gridlock on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Efforts to contact officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) proved abortive as their phone number did not go through.
