MEC Anton Bredell conducted a site visit to the flood-damaged Krans Bridge Siphon near Klawer to assess the damage and discuss the coordinated response needed to restore the critical water infrastructure. The visit included representatives from the Department of Water and Sanitation, the Lower Olifants River Water User Association, local government, and technical experts. The siphon sustained significant damage during severe floods in May 2026 when floodwaters and debris shifted the steel pipeline on its supporting structures. The infrastructure is a key component of the regional bulk water supply network, serving communities including Vredendal.
