Tribunal slams SDP over lack of diligent prosecution of case against Oyebanji

The Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal criticised the Social Democratic Party and the first petitioner over delays in presenting witnesses for the speedy trial of their petition. Tribunal Chairman Justice Abubakar Kutigi expressed disappointment at the petitioner's counsel, Ebenezer Akingbule, who stood in for lead counsel Adebayo Adewole, for allegedly adopting delay tactics. After adjournment, the court premises became charged as SDP members attempted to attack those they described as impostors parading as witnesses. Policemen intervened and urged the party members to resolve their internal wranglings outside the court premises.
