Nigeria recorded a trade surplus of N797.5 billion with the United States in June 2026, ending a 14-month deficit streak, according to National Bureau of Statistics data. The surplus was driven by a 451% month-on-month increase in exports to N1.19 trillion, largely due to urea exports, which surged 203% quarter-on-quarter to N1.07 trillion in Q2 2026, overtaking crude oil as Nigeria's top export to the US. Crude exports fell 13% to N529.31 billion in the same period. This marks the largest monthly surplus with the US on record.
