The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, stated that the Nigerian Army's expansion to 12 divisions will enhance security and economic growth. He explained that additional formations and units will broaden the Army's operational footprint and improve its ability to respond to security challenges. Shaibu made these remarks during a lecture at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State. He added that the expanded force structure will protect communities, critical national infrastructure, and economic activities.
