The announcement was made on Tuesday via AFRIMMA's official Instagram page, with the awards ceremony and music festival held on September 12, 2026, at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas. Davido entered the event as the most-nominated artiste of the year, securing five nominations. His album '5IVE' won the category against other nominees, including Black Sherif, Omah Lay, Asake, Tyla, and Burna Boy, and he also received nods for Artist of the Year, Best Male West Africa, and the Crossing Boundaries With Music Award.
