Representatives of the European Union and EU Member States visited the ECOWAS Logistics Depot (ELD) in Lungi, Sierra Leone, on 8 September 2026. The visit aimed to familiarise the delegation with the concept, facilities, and operational role of the recently commissioned Depot within the ECOWAS regional peace and security architecture. The delegation included Chargé d'Affaires Emilio Rossetti, Olivier Huot, Irene Toeller, and Regional Security Advisor Charlie Suilen. They were received by Commander ELD, Navy Captain I. J. Akpa, who briefed them on the Depot's mandate and evolving operational role.
