Cabinet has approved the establishment of the Seychelles Hydrographic Office (SHO) within the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA), creating a dedicated national framework to better understand and manage Seychelles' vast maritime domain. SMSA Chief Executive Officer Captain Daniel Adam explained that the SHO is a specialised department that brings together hydrographic information from across government and international partners. Its role is to coordinate, manage and preserve that information as a national asset and make it available to agencies for navigation, search and rescue, marine planning, environmental management and other maritime activities. Hydrography helps understand the ocean.
