Suspected armed herdsmen attacked the convoy of the Divisional Police Officer of Ayilamo in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, killing two police officers. A resident said the DPO was returning from Makurdi on an official assignment when his entourage ran into the attackers. The incident occurred as newly deployed Mobile Police officers were escorting the DPO back to Ayilamo. The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Peter Orchia Aondongu, confirmed the incident. The attack followed an earlier assault on Ayilamo community last Thursday in which seven residents and four police officers were killed.
