Aliko Dangote, President/CEO of Dangote Industries Limited, has attributed the high price of petrol in Nigeria mostly to the continuous smuggling of the commodity to neighbouring countries where it sells for much more, despite the surge in prices in Nigeria. Dangote made this known while speaking on the issue. He noted that smuggling undermines the local market and contributes to higher fuel costs. The businessman called for measures to curb the illicit trade.
