The King's College Old Boys Association (KCOBA) has rejected claims that the federal government's proposed concession of King's College, Lagos, amounts to a sale or transfer of ownership. KCOBA stated that the concession is intended to rescue and reposition the over 100-year-old college. The association pledged to double teachers' salaries, keep school fees unchanged, and unveiled a N100 billion endowment fund. Meanwhile, staff unions at the Federal Ministry of Education have shut down the ministry for four days in protest against the concession arrangement, threatening further action if it is not reversed.
