The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV) has again warned motorists against using unauthorised cylinders and components for vehicle conversions. The warning follows an incident on Sunday at the NIPCO gas filling station along Airport Road, Abuja, where a CNG cylinder exploded during refuelling. The cylinder was not designed or certified for CNG storage. No lives were lost and no injuries were recorded, but the initiative stressed the dangers of illegal and unsafe CNG conversions.
