Inflation Eases to 15.39% Amid Moderation in Food Prices

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported that Nigeria's headline inflation rate eased to 15.39 percent in August, down from 15.43 percent in July. The figure is significantly lower than the 23.14 percent recorded in August 2025. Month-on-month headline inflation dropped to 0.71 percent in August from 1.57 percent in July. Food inflation stood at 19.57 percent year-on-year, a decline from 25.30 percent in the same month of 2025, with the month-on-month food index falling to 1.02 percent from 5.56 percent in July.
