Stakeholders have warned that the fragile peace in parts of Zamfara State could be jeopardised by the premature withdrawal of development support, as the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) reviewed its conflict-prevention programme in the Northwest. The warning comes amid continuing armed banditry, kidnapping, farmer-herder conflicts, displacement, poverty, and climate-related pressures. The Zamfara State Government appealed for sustained international support beyond the programme's current phase, while the EU unveiled a €25 million intervention for the Northwest.
