The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room has expressed concerns over actions and incidents that could undermine the transparency and credibility of the 2027 general elections. Citing Afrobarometer surveys, it reported that 77% of Nigerians are dissatisfied with democracy, and only 23% trust INEC. At a press conference marking the International Day of Democracy in Abuja, Convener Yunusa Z. Ya'u urged authorities to curb violations of the Electoral Act and build public trust in the electoral process. The Situation Room emphasized the need for steps to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.
