Editors raise concerns over harassment, intimidation, prosecution of journalists

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has expressed concern over the increasing harassment, intimidation, and prosecution of journalists by security agencies. The Guild warned that such actions could undermine press freedom and legitimate journalistic practice. It also called on the federal government and INEC to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. The concerns were raised in a communiqué signed by NGE President Eze Anaba and General Secretary Onuoha Ukeh after a Standing Committee meeting in Kano.
