Sokoto gov’t sets up panel to probe Lukuwa’s Shari’a issues

The Sokoto State Government has approved the appointment of a 14-member Advisory Committee to examine controversies surrounding remarks by Islamic scholars that led to a breach of peace. The committee, approved by Governor Ahmed Aliyu, is mandated to critically examine the position of Shari'a on issues raised by Mallam Musa Lukuwa and advise the government. The committee is chaired by Mallam Yahaya na Malam Boyi, Sarki Malamai, and includes representatives from Izala, Tijjaniyyah, Qadiriyyah, Jama'atu Nasril Islam, and the Sultanate Council.
