Agro exports fall 36% to N803bn in Q2

Nigeria's agricultural export earnings fell by 36.09 per cent year-on-year to N802.99 billion in the second quarter of 2026, down from N1.26 trillion in the same period of 2025, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics. The figure also represents a 31.51 per cent decline from the N1.17 trillion recorded in the first quarter of 2026. The top five agro exports in Q2 2026 were cashew nuts in shell, standard quality cocoa beans, sesamum seeds, superior quality cocoa beans and soya beans. Agricultural stakeholders believe the sector can be strengthened through local processing, improved infrastructure and access to finance.
