Real Madrid had taken a two-goal lead at halftime through an own goal by Matias Dituro from Arda Guler's free kick on 25 minutes and a Kylian Mbappe strike eight minutes later, assisted by Yan Diomande. However, Elche fought back with two goals in 12 minutes through Abiel Osorio's header and Fer Nimo's strike to level the match. Espi's late goal rescued the win for Real Madrid at the Mario Martinez Valero stadium.
