South Africa: President Ramaphosa signs Public Service Commission Bill into law

President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed the Public Service Commission Bill into law, strengthening the Commission's role in promoting constitutional values and professional ethics in the Public Service. The Commission is mandated to monitor and evaluate practices, investigate administration practices, and address service delivery failures. The new Act repeals the Public Service Commission Act of 1997 and reinforces the government's focus on building a capable and ethical state, one of the 7th Administration's top three priorities. The Commission is an independent body established under section 196(1) of the Constitution and must exercise its powers impartially and without fear, favour, or prejudice.
