Ghana will host a high-level side event on reparatory justice during the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York. This follows the historic UN General Assembly Resolution (A/RES/80/250), which declared the enslavement of Africans the gravest crime against humanity, realised by a coalition of the AU, CARICOM, and the African Diaspora. In June, Ghana convened the Next Steps Conference in Accra, leading to the establishment of a High-Level Advisory Council on Reparatory Justice, a Global Experts Panel on the Restitution of Cultural Heritage, and a Global Legal Panel on Reparatory Justice. The side event continues Ghana's leadership in the collective journey towards reparatory justice.
