The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition in Lesotho has lifted the suspension on the importation of specified livestock and livestock products from South Africa with immediate effect. The decision was communicated through a circular from the Department of Livestock Services, shared by Minister Selibe Mochoboroane. The lifting is subject to sanitary requirements, allowing red meat and pork imports only from abattoirs approved by the South African Component Veterinary Authority and recognised by the Lesotho Veterinary Authority. The importation of live cloven-hoofed animals may also resume under similar conditions.
