The East African Community (EAC) recorded total trade of USD 52.3 billion in the second quarter of 2026, a 37.0 percent increase from the same quarter in 2025. Exports rose by 41.3 percent to USD 26.3 billion, while imports grew by 32.9 percent to USD 26.0 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of USD 0.3 billion. Exports to African countries increased by 44.3 percent to USD 7.2 billion, accounting for 27.5 percent of total EAC exports. Exports to SADC grew by 50.8 percent to USD 5.1 billion.
