The East African Community (EAC) and four United Nations agencies have committed to establishing a structured partnership framework to coordinate joint action on regional health and development priorities. The framework was discussed during a high-level meeting between UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO, and EAC Secretary General Amb. Stephen P. Mbundi at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. The delegation was led by Ms. Lydia Zigomo, UNFPA Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, and included Dr Mohamed Yakub Janabi, WHO Regional Director for Africa, and Ms. Etleva Kadilli, UNICEF Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa.
