Over eight persons have been confirmed dead and others missing after a boat accident on the waterways of Asaba-Onitsha in Oshimili South local government area of Delta State. The bodies were discovered floating along the river. The accident occurred when the boat carrying passengers collided with a submerged log, throwing many passengers overboard. The incident may be connected to the rehabilitation and maintenance activities on the First Niger Bridge, which has been closed to traffic, leading people to resort to boats.
