The Yobe State Police Command has secured 198 convictions and arrested 240 suspects over various criminal offences as part of its intensified crime-fighting operations. Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin disclosed this on Wednesday in Damaturu while briefing journalists on the command's activities from July to date. He said the command recorded 145 criminal cases during the period, comprising 16 murder cases, nine rape cases, one kidnapping case, two extortion cases, five armed robbery cases and 112 cases involving other offences. Jibrin added that 198 cases resulted in convictions, two ended in acquittals, 26 are currently before the courts, 10 remain under investigation and four are awaiting legal advice.
