South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has withdrawn from public engagements due to ill health, the presidency announced on Wednesday. Ramaphosa returned from the BRICS summit in India on Monday and was advised by doctors to rest. His absence coincides with Deputy President Paul Mashatile recovering from a minor medical procedure, leaving both top leaders temporarily away from duties. The presidency stated that ministers will represent the president at scheduled engagements where possible.
