Jacobs' family announced his death at the age of 84 on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, describing him as "The Lion of Lufodo" and appealing to the public to respect their privacy. In a statement shared on social media, Abudu recalled Jacobs' decades-long contribution to the entertainment industry, noting that his career spanned the stage, Nigerian film and television, as well as international productions. She said he brought depth, dignity, and humanity to his roles and praised his influence on younger generations of actors and filmmakers.
