Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Cross River State, Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, has accused the state government of plotting to unleash violence through cult groups ahead of the 2027 general elections. Addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Calabar, Archibong alleged that the government has plans to unleash violence because of what he described as widespread dissatisfaction with his growing acceptance across the three senatorial districts of the state. He said he was aware that the government was planning unprecedented violence through cultism before, during and after elections, adding that he was not afraid. The PDP candidate also alleged that a recent advertorial linked to the state government had exposed what he called the odious and evil fabric of the administration, which he accused of promoting cultism and syncretism.
