Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit said Manchester United remain some way from challenging for the Premier League title, citing a lengthy rebuilding process after the club fell behind rivals in recruitment and squad quality. Speaking to ComeOn, Gullit said United still lack the individual quality required to consistently control matches and compete with the league's leading sides. He acknowledged that Michael Carrick guided United to a third-place finish and Champions League qualification last season, but argued that progress should be viewed with patience. Gullit said, "United? They cannot compete this year. Not yet," adding that the club's problems extend beyond tactics and team structure.
