Flamingos Thrash Niger 5-0 In WAFU-B U-17 Girls’ Cup Opener

Nigeria's Flamingos began their 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls' Cup title defence with a 5-0 victory over Niger Republic in Yamoussoukro on Wednesday. Captain Harmony Chidi opened the scoring in the 16th minute, and Awawu Bashiru added a second before half-time, while a goal by Adegbuyi was ruled out for offside. Goalkeeper Onyiyechi Opara was barely troubled in the first half as Nigeria dominated. After the restart, Ohunene Sunday extended the lead in the 83rd minute, Mary Dunstan made it 4-0, and Ayomide Rotimi completed the rout in stoppage time.
