The Lagos State Government has appealed to motorists to be patient following a traffic gridlock that stranded hundreds of motorists and commuters on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for more than 12 hours on Tuesday. The government attributed the gridlock to a fallen truck and ongoing construction work at the Kara Bridge. Mr Olawale Musa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, said the fallen truck had been evacuated by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). He noted that the situation was worsened by some motorists driving against traffic and said more traffic officers had been deployed to the axis. Musa added that the ministry would continue to work with stakeholders, including the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps.
