The National Assembly has transmitted the constitution amendment bill to the 36 state Houses of Assembly for approval. For any proposal to become part of the Constitution, it must be approved by at least two-thirds of the state legislatures, which amounts to 24 states. The state assemblies are expected to respond within 30 days.
