Domestic gas explosions have become the leading cause of burn-related deaths at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, according to Dr Olukayode Iyun, a plastic surgeon and consultant in charge of burns at the hospital. Dr Iyun said victims are increasingly arriving with extensive burns and severe inhalation injuries. He described the trend as a growing concern.
