Gas price rises by 8.3% to N1,300/kg, higher in informal locations

The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), also known as cooking gas, increased by 8.3 percent month-on-month to N1,300 per kilogram as of September 16, 2026, up from N1,200 in August. Checks in Lagos showed prices varying by gas plant, with accredited stations selling at N1,300 per kg and smaller plants at N1,350 to N1,400. The National President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, Mr. Inyang Edu, attributed the increase to multiple factors, including the international geopolitical crisis involving the United States.
