NPERA to fine erring firms N20m over port infractions

The Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA) has announced that companies violating port regulations will face fines of up to N20 million. The agency's Director-General, Dr Pius Akutah, said the penalties are part of efforts to enforce compliance and support Nigeria's $1 trillion economy target. The NPERA Act 2026 empowers the agency to sanitize the ports and protect investments.
