The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Owerri Zone, has called on Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to intervene in the ongoing strike at Imo State University (IMSU). In a statement signed by Zonal Coordinator Dennis Aribodor, the union said IMSU lecturers have been on strike for 37 days over the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU Agreement, which took effect in January 2026 across public universities. ASUU alleged that the university management might not have fully briefed the governor, who is the visitor to the institution, on the situation. The union also claimed that IMSU has more than 50 casual workers serving as lecturers.
