Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has stated that prisons should be correctional centres focused on reformation rather than punishment. Speaking through his representative, Malam Nasiru Abbas, at the 1st Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Security, Welfare Agenda (SWAC) Conference Graduation Ceremony in Kaduna, Sani emphasised that imprisonment should provide opportunities for inmates to reflect and correct their mistakes. He shared his personal experience of incarceration, noting that it deepened his understanding of prison life.
