S-West group condemns bandits’ attack in Oyo, tasks govt on security

The South-West Security Stakeholders Group (SSSG) has condemned an attack by suspected bandits on an Operation Burst base in a forest reserve along the Igbeti-Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State. The attack occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., with the attackers opening fire on security personnel and setting a patrol van ablaze, causing damage to the facility. In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Ireti Adewole, the SSSG expressed concern over escalating insecurity in the region and called on the Oyo State Government and security agencies to intensify collaborative efforts to protect communities. Adewole stressed the need for greater synergy among security agencies and community members to tackle banditry and other criminal activities.
