Federal Govt Begins Review of Tax Laws, Sets 6-Week Deadline For Panel

The Federal Government has commenced a fresh review of Nigeria's tax laws and regulations, with the Technical Subcommittee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms given six weeks to submit recommendations. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, inaugurated the subcommittee in Abuja on Thursday. The committee will review stakeholder submissions, examine the Finance Bill 2027, revise the Withholding Tax Regulations, and update the framework for Significant Economic Presence. Oyedele stated that the exercise aims to address ambiguities and compliance challenges from the implementation of the 2025 reforms, not to rewrite them.
