Cross River and Okomu National Parks have been added to the CITES elephant monitoring network. CITES stated that the next phase will involve onboarding the newly designated sites into the MIKE system. The MIKE system is used for monitoring the illegal killing of elephants. This development aims to enhance elephant conservation efforts in Nigeria.
